How is it free?

The reason it's free is because we have text message connectivity with all U.S. carriers and can purchase text messages in volume. Our advertisers (aka our really cool sponsors) foot the bill. In the future, we will attach small ads at the bottom of the messages you send. We will also send you marketing messages a few times each month as you have agreed to accept from us but we will try to always make our messages classy and hopefully something that's cool for you. If you ever want to opt-out, you can just send us a message with the word STOP. We are going to work hard to make our service so fun and beneficial that you will never want to quit MogoTXT. It's illegal to spam on cell phones so it will never be like the inbox of your email. NO SPAM EVER! We keep it classy, people.

Why does the message on my phone say some charges may apply?

The reason we say "std msg rates apply" is because some carriers count receiving a message as a text but it will always be free to send them through MogoTXT. It basically depends on your carrier and what kind of cell phone plan you have. Ask your carrier for specific details and whether they charge you for incoming text messages.

How do I cancel?

If you are sure you want to cancel your account, click here. If you just want to unlink your phone, you can text STOP in capital letters to 88649

What if I cancelled by accident?

To prevent accidental cancellations, we designed our system so that typing the word STOP from your phone only unlinks the phone and does not cancel the account.

You can re-link your phone easily by visiting our HOME page and clicking on "link phone."

If you used the cancel page to cancel your account, you will need to contact us to have your account reactivated.

I registered but I don't know my password?

No problem, just click here: Reset Password

How do I invite friends to become members?

Just direct your friends towards the MogoTxt web-site and tell them to create an account!

Or ask them to join with our invite form.

Can I send messages to non-Mogo members?

No. You can only send messages to other registered members...that's because they have to be in our system in order for it to recognize their phone number or username and link you to them. This also helps us prevent spam; like you, we hate spam and do not want to be involved in spreading it.

Does MogoTXT work anywhere in the world?

Anyone in the world can create an account to chat using a wi-fi device (like an iTouch) and chat with anyone in the world who is also a Mogo member. Only people with U.S. cell phone carriers can register their phones for free text messaging and mogochat for their phone. This includes all the major ones like Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Nextel, etc. and even all the small ones! Here's a complete list of all our carriers:

Note: Currently, Verizon does not allow us to provide our members with Mogochat on their network. Verizon members will not be able to use the chat feature, although they can still receive alerts. We hope that Verizon will change their position soon, and we will notify all our Verizon members if and when they do.

Can I register if I don't have a cell phone?

Yes. If you don't have a cell phone, just sign up but leave the phone number blank; you will then be able to send texts and chats from (e.g.) your iTouch or your computer. If you do have a cell, however, please provide it so that we can send your text messages straight to your phone.

How do I report a concern or someone harrassing me?

Please report any concerns to our Mogo team and we'll come to your rescue. If you are a MogoTXT member and you want to block someone from messaging you, log in, go to your contacts and click the link to your Block list. You can manage any blocked phone numbers from there. Any member reported as a harasser will be warned once and then permanently removed from the service.

Can I send anonymous messages?

No. You must be registered with MogoTXT, age 13 or older, and have a valid username in order to send text messages through MogoTXT.

I'm not 13 yet; can I still Mogo?

If you are not 13 years old yet, you will need the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Don't freak out. You will still be able to use Mogo if your parent or legal guardian agrees. (coming very soon)

How long can my message be?

Most cell phones do not allow more than 160 characters in a text and we reserve 40 characters so keep them under 120 or else they will get cut off.

Can I set up multiple accounts?

You can only have one username per email address.

The MogoChat console won't open when I click, what's wrong?

If you are using a popup blocker, it may prevent the console from opening. Check your popup blockers settings to allow MogoChat to open. If you are using Internet Explorer 6, you can hold shift while clicking the MogoChat box to open the window. If all else fails, you can click here.

How many chats can I have at the same time?

You can have up to 5 chats all going on at once.
