Steve Slaton is a Running Back for the Houston Texans.

Steve was selected by the Houston Texans in the third round (89th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Steve became the Houston Texans’ starting running back early in his rookie season, and enjoyed a number of 100+ yard games. For his rushing effort in Week 4 of the 2008 season against the Indianapolis Colts, Steve was honored as Rookie of the Week by NFLPLAYERS.COM.

In Week 14, Steve led the Texans in a 30-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on a Monday Night Football game with 21 carries for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Steve also made two receptions for 52 yards, including a 46-yard screen reception. For his first career Monday Night Football performance with 182 yards of total offense, Steve was honored as AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Steve set the Houston Texans’ franchise single-season rushing record as a rookie with 1,282 yards. His 1,282 rushing yards were the most among rookie running backs and sixth in the NFL, behind only Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings, Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons, DeAngelo Williams of the Carolina Panthers, Clinton Portis of the Washington Redskins, and Thomas Jones of the New York Jets.

Steve played college football at West Virginia, where he earned All-American honors, was a Heisman Trophy finalist, and set a number of WVU and Big East conference records. Steve was Big East Rookie of the Year in 2005 and Sugar Bowl MVP in 2006.
