Silver has covered the NFL for two decades, including a 13-year stint at Sports Illustrated that included more than 70 cover stories. Believed to be the first outside sports journalist to visit New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, Silver has broken stories ranging from Tom Brady's torn anterior cruciate ligament to the Pittsburgh Steelers' hiring of Mike Tomlin. He has done books with football greats Kurt Warner and Jerry Rice as well as NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman and Olympic swimming champion Natalie Coughlin. A proud graduate of the University of California, Silver has served on the school's athletic hall of fame committee since 2007.
