Sent 12:17:08 PM Thu Mar 29 '12Scott Fujita is a linebacker for the Cleveland Browns
Before signing as a free agent with the Cleveland Browns on March 7, 2010, Scott was a member of the Super Bowl XLIV Champion New Orleans Saints team that defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 on February 7, 2010.
Together with Drew Brees, Scott was among the first players signed in 2006 by then rookie head coach Sean Payton to help lead a turnaround of the New Orleans Saints in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. While in New Orleans, Scott was one of the most popular Saints in the team's locker room and within the city. Scott was voted the Saint's man of the year in 2008 for his community service, and he recently donated one-half of his $82,000 in playoff earnings to community charities, including coastal restoration in Louisiana.
Scott now looks forward to contributing to a turnaround of the Browns and becoming a productive member of the community in Cleveland.
Although Scott's last name is Japanese, he is Caucasian, and he is the adopted son of Rodney Fujita, who is Japanese-American, and his wife Helen, who is Caucasian. Scott's father was one of the Japanese-Americans interned during World War II. Because he grew up in a traditional Japanese household, celebrating Japanese festivals and holidays, and eating with chopsticks, Scott considers himself to be culturally Japanese.
Before he was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft, Scott played college football for California Golden Bears.
