This hard working, beastly Cleveland Brown is originally a California boy, born in the city of Santa Barbara on November 19, 1985. Alex attended San Marcos High where he excelled on both the football field and on the wrestling mat. During his senior year, Alex registered 93 tackles and eight sacks. He also advanced to the state wrestling tournament as a CIF heavyweight champ.
Alex played college football for the University of California from 2004-2008, and with a heart as big as... well him... he earned as many friends as football honors. Alex was a true student athlete graduating from Cal with a 3.6 GPA and a degree in Legal Studies. He was the 2008 winner of the Draddy Trophy, making him the first Pac-10 player to receive this honor. In 2007 and 2008 Alex won the Morris Trophy, making him the third offensive lineman to win this award twice.
Alex was a first round pick (21st overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft for the Browns. After he signed a five-year, $15 million contract with Cleveland. Alex started all 16 games as a rookie, allowing only one sack and committing only one penalty during his first season. Football Weekly and the Professional Football Writers Association of America named Mack to the All-Rookie squad in honor of his performance during the 2009 NFL season.
Rock solid Alex continues to be a key component to the Brown's outstanding offensive Line. Follow Alex to keep up to speed with him and the Browns this NFL season.
